Springfield officials weigh subdivision plans, transfer station staff and election worker pay
SPRINGFIELD — Town leaders and developers attended the selectboard meeting Tuesday to discuss a range of issues from a proposed subdivision and road access to transfer station staffing and how to pay election workers. Developer representatives from Treeline outlined a vision for a new subdivision intended to serve as an example for future development in Springfield. They described draft deed-restriction language and said they will work with the town to refine terms designed to protect property upkeep and help avoid problems seen with past small-lot projects. Class of 2026 joins ranks of alumni as area high schools hold graduations
KATAHDIN REGION—Members of the Class of 2026 officially became alumni of their respective high school during graduation ceremonies held last weekend. Schenck High School awarded diplomas to 18 graduates during its commencement Saturday at Margaret Gillis Gymnasium.

MEDWAY - Medway Selectmen learned that the “new” ambulance had to be serviced by Autotronics for an issue with the oil pump. Medway Deputy Chief Josh McGreevy reported that Autotronics, the ambulance dealership, has agreed to cover the repair.
Medway board declines to revote on porta-potty funding
MEDWAY - Medway Selectmen turned down a request to restore funding for a porta-potty to be located at the Old Medway Church for the summer. Selectmen cited the increased price and uncertainty over use as reasons to cut the amount.

Millinocket seeking to participate in federally funded school health initiative
MILLINOCKET—Millinocket School Department is seeking to take part in a developing school health initiative that would make available Telehealth counseling services to students and families. LINCOLN LAKES AND KATAHDIN REGIONS—Penobscot Valley softball capped a 14-0 regular season with a home victory last week against Stearns and in doing so secured the top seed in the Class D North tournament. Mattanawcook Academy avenged one of its two losses this spring by downing Houlton/GHCA in its regular season finale to cement the No. 2 seed in Class C North with a 14-2 record while Schenck and Stearns secured home preliminary round games in the 14-team Class D North bracket.

Minutemen, Lynx get baseball byes; PVHS, Schenck to play prelims
KATAHDIN AND LINCOLN LAKES REGIONS—Stearns and Mattanawcook Academy captured byes in their respective baseball regional tournament and advanced directly to the quarterfinal round. The Minutemen snagged the fourth seed in Class D North with a victory over Penobscot Valley in their mutual regular season finale, which decided the region’s final preliminary round bye between the two schools, while the Lynx closed out the second seed in Class C North after topping Houlton in their regular season finale behind a no-hitter from senior Avery Jordan. PVHS and Schenck secured postseason qualification in Class D North and were set to play in the preliminary round this week.
