David R. Whalen - Owner/Editor/Publisher/General Manager
David Whalen has over forty years in the marketing and advertising industry. He has worked with both national and international accounts and has been using his design and advertising skills with the Lincoln News for twenty years. As General Manager, David oversees the daily operations at the news, personnel, all newspaper and commercial printing production, and community/public relations

Chris DeBeck - News/Sports Reporter
Chris DeBeck has been with the Lincoln News for fifteen years as a sports reporter and most recently, adding to his duties, as Editor. His background includes a journalism degree from UMaine, his work at the Bangor Daily News sports desk and as a reporter at The Houlton Pioneer Times and the Courier-Gazette in Rockland. Chris uses his coverage skills to report and write, as well as oversee the responsibilities of staff reporters and freelance contributors who also cover the greater Lincoln area.

 

Laverne Carll - Office Manager/Bookkeeper

A Lincoln native, Laverne Carll is a familiar face at the Lincoln News. She joined the News staff in 1968 and, with forty-five years of newspaper experience, her duties include overseeing the accounts receivables/payables and assigning staff to handle the day-to-day operation at the News. Laverne is also the head of Cards of Thanks, In Memoriams and Obituaries and Classified sections.

 

Tony Hallett - News Reporter
Tony is a Class of 1992 graduate of Penobscot Valley High School in Howland. After studying Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Maine and working for the Lincoln News for seven years from 1991-98, Tony moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked first for Borders Bookstore and then Petsmart. He has worked both in Loss Prevention and as a store manager. He has recently returned to Maine with his wife, Casey, and resumed his profession as a journalist. He is an avid gamer and dog lover.

 

Brian Brown - News/Sports Reporter
Brian Brown graduated from UMaine with a journalism degree in 2006. Brian’s passion for sports shows in his highly accurate reporting of all Katahdin region school teams activities. Brian not only reports sports, he is also a fine news writer and supplies in-depth reporting of a broad range of newsworthy coverage on in the Katahdin arena.  

 

Delores Dill - Customer Service/Production Assistant

Delores, a Lincoln native, served in the Navy for 20 years in the communications field. Upon her retirement from the Navy in 2000, she moved to NH where she worked at New Hampshire Ball Bearing and worked her way up from an assembler to a technician. She moved back home to Lincoln in 2007 and joined the News staff in 2008 as a collater and worked her way up to her current position. Her duties besides customer service include the Coming Events and Social Pages.
